About Practice:

Carolyn Million MD is a board certified physician in Colon and Rectal Surgery with decades of experience in treating anal issues.

She has specialized in benign outpatient anal work for many years enabling her to identify issues frequently missed by other physicians.

Her practice style combines preventive medicine with procedures and/or advice to help you improve issues affecting your anal area. Whereas many patients think hemorrhoids are the problem, pain and/or bleeding are frequently caused by issues not related to hemorrhoids. The hemorrhoids, as normal structures in the area, are frequently also involved, but not the underlying issue. Of course, she also treats hemorrhoids. Since closing her San Francisco based practice of 18 years duration, Dr. Million has moved her practice to Oakland with hours and location more conducive to her semi-retired state. She is no longer performing surgery. She does still perform hemorrhoidal banding. Her practice is limited to benign anal issues.

Dr. Million is the sole provider of services. Services include treatment of hemorrhoids, fissures, anal itching and other benign anal problems. Treatment for anal fissures includes ointments and also BoTox. Treatment for hemorrhoids includes possible banding which is performed where there are no pain receptors in a treatment that takes less than 20 seconds. Many issues are also related to diet, so conversation about diet and habits is also central.

Reviews:

Professional, conscientious and thorough are the first three words that come to mind. Very pleased with Dr. Carolyn Million's work performed. There are a lot of doctors with secret agendas and from my experience she is not one of them--complete transparency and willingness to educate. Thank you.   K.T.

She is one of the most thoughtful and thorough physicians that I have had the privilege of seeing. Her bedside manners are impeccable. She explains in detail the findings of her examination and try to give as many options as possible.   B.L.

Dr. Million's bedside manner was serious, funny, and respectful while caring. She educated me, and took care of the problem. She also called to follow up herself, to let me know it was nothing serious. That to me is proper care. Huge thanks to her and her staff. Most deserving of top marks.  A.X.

I went to Dr. Million after starting to have pain with bowel movements. She diagnosed me with a fissure, which we spent over 6 months trying to fix via medical (not surgical) treatments. Don't get me wrong, it was a good thing we exhausted every option until the surgery. However, I was not responding well to the medical txs so we decided to go ahead with the LIS. I was apprehensive at first, but 4 weeks after it I have to say... I wish I would've done it SO MUCH SOONER. I am feeling the best I have in over 9 months, and I believe Dr. Million did an excellent job. S.S.
